Bridgeport Central’s Kendall Washington has been named the softball All Bridgeport Challenge Team MVP.  The Senior helped pitch and hit the Hilltoppers to the Challenge title.

Boys Volleyball: Bassick Beats Central in Bridgeport Challenge, Kalonji Named MVP

(5-4-15) Bassick remains in control of the Bridgeport Challenge after a 3-1 match win over. Central (25-27, 25-20, 25-18, 28-26)  Central won the first game 27-25 and forced Bassick to win three straight, including the last game at 28-26.

With the win the Lions are 2-0, Central drops to 0-2.

Bassick was led by game MVP Enock Kalonji who had 9 kills and 3 blocks, Sachin Manning added 8 kills and 2 blocks and Shane Hendricks had 2 aces, 5 kills and 2 digs.

Central Picks Up Bridgeport Challenge Baseball Title

The Hilltoppers will add another Bridgeport Challenge Trophy to it’s current collection.  Central beat Bassick 5-0 to clinch the title with a 2-0 record, thanks to Joseluis Sierra who led the way on offense with one hit and one RBI. Erickson Rodriguez picked up the win on mound, thanks to his seven strikeouts.

With Boys Volleyball still to be decided, Central has now won four Challenge trophies, Harding has two and Bassick has one.

Harding’s Win Sets-up Challenge Title Game

On Friday (April 17th) the Harding Presidents defeated the Bassick Lions 22-6 in their first step towards a Bridgeport Challenge title. Jamyra Cuffee was the winning pitcher for the Presidents. The Presidents were led by Player of the Game Rebecca Colon who had 3 hits and 8 RBI’s including a grand slam, a 2 run double and a 2 run single. Ariel Ovalle had 4 hits and 3 RBI’s. Victoria Draper hit a home run, and Milani Montanez added 3 hits for the Presidents.

With the win Harding and Central will play for the Challenge title this Friday (April 24th). Central beat Bassick earlier this season.

Harding takes the early lead in the Bridgeport Challenge with a 14-5 win over Bassick this past Friday. A key Challenge match-up is this Friday when Harding and Central play, a Harding win would give the Presidents the title and trophy, a Central win would come down to the final game on the Challenge with the Central-Bassick game on Monday the 27th.

All Sports Award for the Bridgeport Challenge

(11-3-14) Current overall standings in the All Sports Award for the Bridgeport Challenge with one game left (Thanksgivng) in the fall season:

The All Sports Trophy will be handed out at the Bridgeport Challenge dinner at season’s end, after the winter and spring seasons.

Boys Soccer – Bassick Picks Up Challenge Win

9-22-14 – In the first ever Bridgeport Challenge event, Bassick picks up a 7-3 win over Harding.  The Lions now lead the Challenge with a 1-0 record and also pick up their first win of the season to go 1-3 on the season.  Harding remains win less in both the Challenge 0-1 and regular season 0-5.

The Lions led 4-0 at the halftime break.

Bassick’s Tavoy Morgan led the Lions with 4 goals and was named Player of the Match

Next Challenge match for Bassick will be on Tuesday, September 30th when they play Central.  Harding’s next match will be on October 6th when they play Central.
